Full.Live

Goals

Full.Live is committed to revitalizing Detroit’s near-west side by restoring historic buildings, creating walkable commercial spaces, and fostering local economic growth.

Goals (Short-term)

Renovate and promote existing buildings:

The primary goal of Full.Live is to renovate and promote the 4 owned buildings in the area. This involves updating the exteriors, repairing any damages, upgrading the facilities to modern standards, and seeking businesses to rent the spaces. This will not only improve the appearance of the neighborhood but also provide new and improved spaces for businesses and residents to occupy.

Bring viable amenities into the neighborhood for residents:

These amenities could include things like grocery stores, cafes, restaurants, and retail shops. By providing these amenities, residents will have easier access to necessary goods and everyday services, which will improve their quality of life.

Attract local businesses:

This goal is to fill the renovated and expanded buildings with local businesses. This will not only provide new job opportunities for the residents but also create a sense of community pride and ownership. Local businesses tend to be more invested in the community, and their success will directly impact the success of the neighborhood.

Generate needed buzz:

Finally, Full.Live aims to generate much-needed buzz in the area. Promotion of the new amenities could help attract visitors and residents alike. Collaborating with local organizations will help raise awareness of the revitalization efforts to the neighbors. By generating buzz, Full.Live hopes to attract new residents, businesses, and visitors to the area, ultimately leading to increased economic growth and prosperity, and bring success to existing programs like the SNF and the Joe Louis Greenway.

Goals (Long-term)

Full.Live is committed to fostering lasting community impact by revitalizing historic spaces, attracting local businesses, and creating a sustainable, walkable neighborhood. Our long-term vision includes expanding commercial opportunities, increasing residential density, and enhancing urban infrastructure to support a thriving, self-sustaining district that continues to grow for generations to come.

Establish a community identity:

This involves helping to create a mental image for the neighborhood that reflects its location, unique character, and values. A recognizable community identity can help attract new residents and businesses to the area, and it can also foster a sense of pride and belonging among existing residents

Continue development along the Livernois corridor:

This includes developing new amenities, public spaces, and residential and commercial properties, and converting existing spaces to more neighbor-centric uses along the corridor. All of this will create a more cohesive and vibrant neighborhood. By connecting to existing developed areas, the neighborhood can tap into existing infrastructure and resources, and by sparking new development, it can attract new residents and businesses.

Attract new residents:

The target area encompasses streets with various zoning codes allowing for single-family use, multifamily, apartments, and efficiency units. This allows opportunities to create affordable and attractive housing options that cater to a range of lifestyles and needs. By attracting new residents, the neighborhood can increase its economic vitality, support local businesses, and foster a sense of community.

Become one of Detroit’s most walkable neighborhoods

Full.Live has a core belief that neighborhoods should be designed for people, not cars. The amenities of the commercial streets should serve those people. Becoming one of the premier walkable neighborhoods will intrinsically take advantage of the diverse mix of zoning unique to the area, raise property values, and encourage new residents to move to the area.
